about

Before 'Neighbor Singing' and 'Natural Selections,' Brad Laner’s two solo albums that brightened an entire decade of Hometapes, there was Medicine. The year 2013 saw the return of Brad’s pioneering shoegaze group, with the release of 'To the Happy Few' and the reuniting of a band made legendary by its sheer defiance of the calendar. Nothing ever ends.

And nothing ever happens in isolation. In tandem with the kindling of this old flame was the swirling dream of Brad Laner, alone, in his home studio in southern California. 'Nearest Suns,' out on Hometapes, alongside our friends Drawing Room Records, is the song that keeps playing once the house lights come up and you hop in your car to make that windows-down drive home.

Take the long way home and visit 'Neighbor Singing' and 'Natural Selections,' too. You pass by them every day – and once you see them, you won’t believe you’ve never seen them before.
